As a resident, mother and businesswoman, Dr. Rodriguez’s passion to see her community thrive is the driving force of her campaign. If elected, her focus will center on mental health, family advocacy and business development and maintenance.

Over the years, Dr. Rodriguez has made it her personal mission to assist those in need — especially young girls, preteens and women.

Dr. Rodriguez is a licensed professional counselor who has spent the last 19 years of her career in the mental health field. She started her work at a women’s shelter for domestic violence victims as a crisis counselor. In 2006, she and a colleague opened a mentor and counseling center called Future Project, serving an average of 300 clients per year. Then, in 2008, she founded Future Knowledge Center for Women, a nonprofit serving women and girls across New Jersey. By opening the center, she provided a safe environment for females to seek counseling services. Through her nonprofit, Dr. Rodriguez regularly offers emotional support in home settings for little or no cost to clients.

She is also the chief operating officer of Future Project, a nonprofit organization that provides academic and social support for the at-risk population. Her permanent role allows her to assist in the nonprofit’s mission to provide programs serving inner-city communities.

In addition to her nonprofit endeavors, Dr. Rodriguez works at Care Counseling Center in Bridgewater, a private counseling practice.

Since 2003, Dr. Rodriguez has taught at William Paterson University, where she frequently lectures in both the psychology and women’s and gender studies departments.
